Jack Black Should Play Magic Devlin

Posted in Entertainment, Movies, Videos, WTF?! with tags , , , , , , , on November 2, 2009 by TheDiversePurse

Peep the video above for the wonder that is Magic Devlin! I was watching this thinking to myself “Is this guy for real?” I’m still not sure, but he’s entertaining and funny regardless.

From his synthesized music to his ill fitting spandex outfit and his habit of rockin’ out while doing magic tricks, I totally thought this would be an awesome character for Jack Black to play. I’d go see that movie.

Pro-Marijuana Show Hits The Airwaves With Positive Reception

Posted in Entertainment, Fitness & Health, Food & Drink, Movies, Television with tags , , , , , , , , , , on September 16, 2009 by TheDiversePurse

medicalmarijuanaThe NY Times has an article about a new local show in the L.A. area called Cannabis Planet where viewers can learn about history, cultivation, legal issues, and even cooking with marijuana.

Despite being taken off the air by one television station, the shows executive producer Brad Lane has received only positive attention and more revenue from advertisers since Cannabis Planet found a new home with another station.

“ ‘We’re trying to show the legitimacy of this plant,’ Lane stated.

“Marijuana use has been depicted in the media for decades, though its presence has waxed and waned over the decades, from Cheech & Chong’s comedy albums and films in the late 1970s and early ’80s through more recent pot-centric efforts like Dave Chappelle’s ‘Half-Baked’ and Seth Rogan’s ‘Pineapple Express.’ On television, though, it has rarely risen above the level of a plot device or punch line — until recently.”

Posted in Entertainment, Movies with tags , , , , , , , , , , on September 3, 2009 by TheDiversePurse

KarenSalaKeanuReevesAn Ontario woman named Karen Sala recently filed a claim against fellow Canadian and actor Keanu Reeves stating he is the father of “at least one” of her four children who are now all in their twenties.

At the urging of his attorney, Lorne Wolfson, Reeves has agreed to submit his DNA in order to prove he is not the father of any of Sala’s children. If the results are negative then Reeves will not be paying the whopping $150,000 per month in child support or the $3,000,000 per month spousal support Sala is seeking in the case. (via TMZ)

Make A Moving Rorschach Mask

Posted in Arts & Crafts, How-to, Movies, Videos with tags , , , , , , , , on August 31, 2009 by TheDiversePurse

RorschachMy favorite holiday of Halloween will be here sooner than you know it, so I’ve been perusing the interwebs in search of some cool costume ideas while there’s still time as I’m such a procrastinator.

I came across this video of someone who made a mask based on The Watchmen character Rorschach. YouTube user guinness0507 utilizes a thermochromic powder that he mixes with a transparent base to create a paint which can then be used on fabrics. When the wearer of the mask breathes and the temperature of the fabric reaches above 86 degrees F, it’ll show a cool “moving” effect similar to that of the Rorschach character.

This isn’t cheap as the powder alone is currently marketed at $45, but is it too expensive or a good investment knowing no one else will probably have it?

Celebrity Doppelgaengers – Willem Dafoe And Reese Witherspoon

Posted in Celebrity Doppelgaengers, Entertainment, Movies with tags , , , , , , , on July 30, 2009 by TheDiversePurse

willemdafoereesewitherspoonMy boyfriend doesn’t see it but as we were watching “The Last Temptation of Christ”, for the first time, I commented that the younger blonder Willem Dafoe looked like “Legally Blonde” actress Reese Witherspoon. Maybe it’s the face shape or slight underbite? Do you see a resemblence?
