The Chinese On Fortune Cookies

If you didn’t know by now, fortune cookies (along with many dishes we’ve come to recognize from Chinese take-out like chop suey, crab rangoon, fried rice, and General Tso’s chicken among others) are in fact an American invention made by immigrants who based it on a recipe from Japan.
